Where Performance Meets Poetry

Shhek designs premium movement wear crafted for elegance. Their digital storefront, however, lacked the sophisticated feel of their physical products. Our mandate was simple: redesign the e-commerce experience to sell a luxury lifestyle, not just activewear.

The timeline? Aggressive. The stakes? A Series C valuation riding on user engagement metrics. No pressure.

The problems hiding behind a login screen

Shhek's platform had evolved organically over six years — feature after feature bolted on without a coherent design system. The result was a Frankenstein of inconsistent patterns, buried functionality, and a navigation architecture that required a PhD in information science to decode.

Key problems we identified:

42% Drop-off Rate

Users were abandoning the onboarding flow before completing account setup. The 12-step process felt like a bureaucratic nightmare.

Zero Design System

Over 200 unique UI patterns with no shared components. Every team shipped features in their own visual language.

Trust Deficit

User surveys revealed that the outdated interface actively undermined trust — people didn't feel safe with their money in a product that "looked broken."

Listening before designing

Before sketching a single wireframe, we embedded ourselves in Shhek's world. We conducted 48 in-depth user interviews, shadowed customer support calls for two weeks, and analyzed 18 months of behavioral analytics data.

Three insights reshaped our entire approach:

1. People check their banking app 14 times a day — but 80% of those checks are just to see their balance. The most critical piece of information was buried behind two taps and a loading screen.

2. Financial anxiety drives disengagement. Users who felt overwhelmed by data didn't engage more — they shut down entirely. Simplicity wasn't a luxury; it was a mental health consideration.

3. Trust is earned through consistency. Every inconsistency in the interface — a button that looked different, a pattern that broke — registered as a subconscious trust erosion event. In banking, that's lethal.

Clarity as competitive advantage

Our strategic framework centered on one principle: reduce cognitive load at every touchpoint. We weren't building a banking app — we were building a financial companion that respects its users' mental bandwidth.

We structured the redesign around four strategic pillars:

01

Instant Clarity

Balance visible within 0.3 seconds of opening the app. No taps, no loading, no delays.

02

Progressive Disclosure

Show users what they need now, reveal complexity only when they ask for it.

03

Visual Consistency

One design system, zero exceptions. Every component perfectly aligned with the brand aesthetic.

04

Emotional Safety

Sophisticated color palette, generous whitespace, and language that inspires movement.

05

Performance First

Sub-100ms interactions. Speed isn't a feature — it's the foundation of trust in fintech.

Building the visual language of motion

We built Shhek's design system from the ground up — 240+ components, 12 type styles, and a color system engineered to convey calm authority. Every decision traced back to our research findings about trust and clarity.

The product we shipped

The final platform is a ground-up rebuild that transforms how Shhek's 2.5 million users experience event experience. A clean, confident interface where balance is visible on launch, transactions tell stories instead of listing numbers, and every financial decision feels supported rather than stressful.

We reduced the onboarding flow from 12 steps to 4. We introduced contextual financial insights that surface exactly when users need them. And we built a real-time notification system that keeps users informed without overwhelming them — smart alerts, not spam.

Within 90 days of launch, Shhek saw conversion rates nearly triple. The App Store rating climbed from 3.2 to 4.8 stars. Bounce rates plummeted by 60%. And most importantly, daily active users grew to 2.5 million — users who weren't just signing up, but actually engaging with the platform daily.

The redesign directly contributed to Shhek securing $42M in Series C funding, with investors citing the "dramatically improved user experience" as a key factor in their decision.

The transformation

The contrast is intentional and dramatic. Where the old interface demanded users decode complexity, the new design presents clarity as the default. Information density remained the same — we didn't remove features, we reorganized their hierarchy.

What this project taught us

Speed is trust. In fintech, every millisecond of loading time erodes user confidence. We learned to obsess over performance as a design constraint, not an engineering afterthought. Every animation under 200ms. Every interaction instant.

Simplicity requires courage. The hardest battles weren't with Figma — they were in stakeholder meetings. Removing features from a fintech product takes genuine conviction. Every "but what about" pushback required data-backed reasoning and unwavering design vision.

Design systems pay dividends. The upfront investment in building a comprehensive component library felt slow at first. By month three, the engineering team was shipping features 4x faster. The system became the single greatest accelerator for the product team's velocity.

Users reward intentionality. People can feel when a product has been designed with care versus assembled from templates. The 1,200+ five-star reviews that mentioned "beautiful" or "well-designed" proved that aesthetic quality has direct business impact.

The roadmap ahead

Great products are never finished — they evolve. Our ongoing partnership with Shhek focuses on three key initiatives that will define the platform's next chapter:

AI-Powered Financial Coaching. We're designing an intelligent assistant that proactively surfaces personalized financial advice based on spending patterns, savings goals, and market conditions. Not a chatbot — a genuine financial companion.

Collaborative Banking. Shared accounts, family financial planning, and goal-based saving for groups. Banking has been a solo experience for too long — we're designing the social layer that makes managing money together feel natural.

Accessibility 2.0. Going beyond WCAG compliance to build truly inclusive financial tools — voice-first interactions, cognitive load adaptation, and an interface that meets users where they are, regardless of ability.
